A craftsperson building something by hand while the rest of the world rushes past him.

Decide to Do Something Well

When was the last time you slowed down to do something really well? I’m talking about those moments where you tell yourself, “I’m going to give my all to this project!” For some reason, when I do this, I feel a sense of excitement. I’m leaving behind the race, tired of skimming ideas, half-assing my work, and living only on the surface.

This time, I’m going deep. I’m going to shut everything off, sharpen my tools, and proceed slowly. I’m going to be a craftsperson, rely on precision, and do this thing well.

Let the hyperactive, gotta-do-more, never-stop-pushing-for-excess people be damned. I’m stepping out of the rat race because I’m tired of thoughtless, useless, and automated work.

I want to do something well.

Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
