The sense of community is truly special—warm, welcoming, and intellectually vibrant. Whether you’re a longtime reader or just getting back into books, this is the book club for you. The book selections are thoughtful and well-curated, sparking deep conversation and fresh perspectives. What sets this club apart is not just the books, but the people. It’s a space where ideas are shared freely and respectful dialogue is encouraged. Highly recommended for anyone looking to engage with great literature in a thoughtful, community-centered setting.

Discussing great books with intelligent people … helps me get more out of what I am reading – more enjoyment, more insight, more learning, more value.

I’ve never belonged to a book club before, and honestly never had much interest in joining one. I always considered reading to be a solitary pursuit. But sometimes I would find something interesting or enlightening in a book and want to share that tidbit with friends or family, only to discover that they weren’t always as interested or intrigued as me. One day a friend told me about the Read Well Podcast Book Club and all the interesting books they were reading. More importantly, he told me about the discussions they would have to share ideas and gain better insight into what they were reading. I decided to give it a try, and I couldn’t be happier that I decided to take the plunge. Discussing great books with intelligent people (readers with varied perspectives, knowledge, education, expertise and life experience) helps me get more out of what I am reading – more enjoyment, more insight, more learning, more value.

I like the pace of the reading schedule. The books chosen for this reading year are excellent. Best of all are the weekly discussions.

I have been in many book clubs, including online, and the way this one is set up suits me to a T. I like the pace of the reading schedule. The books chosen for this reading year are excellent. Best of all are the weekly discussions. Our host provides a list of notes for that week’s reading and we go over them, and comment on them. The notes are genius and they keep things moving along nicely providing a total deep dive into the book. The chats within the community are also lovely.

About Eddy

Meet your host, Eddy Hood.

Eddy Hood created The Read Well Podcast for readers who want to slow down, take better notes and spend more time thinking about the books they read.

The Book Club brings that same approach into a live community, giving readers a place to explore books together rather than simply moving on to the next title.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

You can start today! There’s no need to wait for a particular book or try to time your membership around our reading schedule. The moment you join, you’ll get access to the entire library of past book club recordings, discussion notes, and the community.

Your free month begins on the day you sign up, so there’s no advantage to waiting. In fact, the sooner you join, the more time you’ll have to explore everything that’s already available.

The best time to start is now.

Live attendance is welcome but never required. Most members follow along on their own time. Every session is recorded and posted inside the community, so you can watch whenever it suits you. The conversation also runs all week, so you are always part of it.

We meet every Tuesday on Zoom at 8:30pm Eastern Time, which is 6:30pm Mountain Time. Sessions run one to one and a half hours. Every one is recorded if you would rather catch up later.

Most books take us about 4–6 weeks to complete, with a new recorded discussion released each Tuesday.

The pace is intentional. The goal isn’t to rush through as many books as possible. It’s to spend enough time with a book to understand it, wrestle with its ideas, and remember what you’ve read.

Many of us have spent years racing from one book to the next. Book club is an opportunity to slow down, think deeply, and have meaningful conversations about books that matter.

We have 151 members from across the US. Around 35 join the live session each Tuesday, and the rest follow along through the recordings at their own pace. The live group stays small enough for real conversation.

Yes. It is a private space built around books, reading tips, and what is happening in the club. Think of it as a quieter version of a social feed, focused entirely on reading, with no ads and no noise.

Yes. There is no test and no falling behind. Read ahead, read along, or catch up on a recording. The community is here whenever you are ready.

No. My goal is to keep membership as affordable as possible.

At just $12 per month, your membership fee helps cover the costs of running the book club, hosting our meetings, creating discussion materials, and managing our private reading community. It does not include the cost of the books we read.

This also gives you the freedom to choose the format that works best for you. While I recommend a specific edition for each book, many members prefer a different translation, listen to the audiobook, borrow the book from the library, or purchase a different edition altogether.

As long as you’re reading the same book, you’re welcome to participate however you prefer.

Absolutely! Many members do. The main advantage of reading the edition I recommend is that the discussion notes I provide each week will match the page numbers and formatting of that edition. That makes it a little easier to follow along during our conversations. That said, plenty of members listen to audiobooks, choose a different translation, or simply prefer a particular cover or edition. Any version is welcome.

That will happen from time to time, and that’s okay.

Part of being in a book club is discovering books and ideas you might not have chosen on your own. Some will become favorites. Others won’t.

If a particular book doesn’t interest you, there’s no need to cancel your membership. Many members use that time to participate in reading challenges, improve their reading habits, connect with friends in the community, or join discussions even if they haven’t finished the book.

The goal is bigger than any single title. It’s building a lifelong reading life.

Your first 30 days are free. After that, premium membership is $12/month. A card is required to begin the free trial.

Yes. You can cancel anytime if the community is not the right fit for you.

We look for books that inspire deeper reading. Past fiction selections have included The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Odyssey, and Anna Karenina. Past nonfiction selections have included The Intellectual Life, Behave, and Wisdom Takes Work.

Yes. The community is hosted by Eddy Hood from The Read Well Podcast.

The buttons on this page take you to the Circle checkout page, where the free trial and membership signup are handled.
