What book should you read next? The answer depends on who you are. Above the temple entrance of The Oracle of Delphi was the famous phrase: “Know Thyself.” Most of us are “too busy” to truly know ourselves, and that’s the problem.
If you don’t know who you are or what you want from life, it’s hard to recommend the right book for you.
So how do you get to know yourself? In my book club, we’ve been discussing Julia Cameron’s idea of “Morning Pages,” from her book The Artist’s Way. She suggests writing three pages longhand every morning without overthinking. This simple practice helps you get to know yourself, break through creative blocks, understand psychological challenges, and make progress.
Before starting your next book, try writing three pages about yourself—your goals, fears, passions, and dreams. Put it all on paper. Then, choose a book that helps you move in that direction.
Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
