  1. The book I am reading today is Willpower: Discovering the Greatest Human Strength by Roy F. Baumeister and John Tierney, published by The Penguin Press in 2011. By focusing on reading slowly and taking notes I became aware that to really grasp what the authors are saying I have to do a deep dive. I have to not only take succinct notes, my notes have to collectively capture the overall thesis of the book as much as I can. Thus, for effective use of my reading time I need to have a good grasp on the main thesis of the book from the beginning. I realized that determining what content to annotate is very important, because I don’t want to take so many notes that I end up just copying the book. Also, I wanted to determine if I need to re-read certain parts of the book before I can get the real value of the book and take more relative notes. I see that I will likely take notes and read more thoroughly the parts of the book with which I agree. I therefore need to be able to look at all sides of an argument the authors present.
