A Case for Reading Dangerous Books

When I say dangerous books, I’m talking about the kind of books outside your perspective. Every day, we take the same roads to work, say hello to the same people in the same way, and feel safe in our little grooves. We then look for books that fit into those little grooves, making things feel even cozier.

But there are other grooves.

A dangerous book picks you up and sets you into one of these “other” grooves, and at first, it feels dangerous because you’ve never been here. Things are different. You don’t know the people, the language, or the value system. You want to run home and hide because that is safe.

But something about this groove is interesting.

Perhaps, there’s something here to learn…

Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
