I’m learning the value of doing a little each day.
A few weeks ago, I decided to start writing a novel. This isn’t my first attempt. I wrote one in 2016 and another in 2018, both of which I took to New York City in hopes of landing a literary agent.
Those books weren’t good enough to get an agent, but they did teach me that I can do hard things. Now, in 2025, I’m scared out of my mind to try again.
More than anything, I want to be a published author. After two novels and countless rejection letters, I let the busyness of life pull me away from that goal. I hid from it.
I can’t do that anymore. I have to write.
So, I’ve secretly been working on a new novel for a few weeks now, and here’s what I’ve learned: doing a little bit every day adds up. I’m 10,000 words into my first draft, and unlike my previous attempts, I don’t feel like I’m flirting with disaster. I feel excited. I feel happy. I love where my story is headed.
All this to say—whatever you want to do with your life, you can do it. Start small. A little each day. Soon, the days will add up to something monumental.
Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
