Two boys in a library reading Agatha Christie books

Hercule Poirot

I’ve been an Agatha Christie nut my entire life, and Hercule Poirot is one of my favorite fictional characters. I first heard about the detective in fifth grade, when Chris Porter (the smartest kid in the class) sat reading The Big Four while the other kids ran outside for recess.

When I asked him about the book, he walked me to the school library and showed me an entire row of Agatha Christie books, all ready and waiting to wet my mystery-solving appetite. Not knowing where to start (Christie wrote 66 novels, half of which focused on her famous sleuth), Chris pointed me to his favorite – Murder On The Orient Express.

I read that book over the weekend and fell in love. I’ve been a sucker for the stories ever since. And while I love Kenneth Branagh’s new adaptations on film, my favorite on screen representation will always be David Suchet, who filmed 70 episodes from 1989 to 2013. When I have a free hour and I’m mentally exhausted, I always turn one on, sit back, and smile. Hint – you can get them on Amazon Prime Video.

Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
