Happy Mother's Day

Reading on Mother’s Day

To all my readers who are mothers, Happy Mother’s Day! We’re busy at the Hood Household getting ready for three different celebrations. My wife (a mother of four), then a lunch at my mom’s, and finally a dinner at my mother-in-laws. It’s a big day, but one I’m looking forward to living.

Even though I want to give these women 100% of my attention, it’s possible to find a few minutes to read. But is reading really that important? Should I even be thinking of books on a day like today? Yes, and here’s why.

Everyday is busy, and if I give myself latitude, can find a million excuses for why I’m too “slammed” to read. But I don’t want to live that way. Books are important to me, and so I’m going to find a way to read. It doesn’t have to be long, but if I skip today I’ll fall slightly out of my habit. That’s why I start reading first thing in the morning. Now, with my reading finished, I can give my full attention to Mother’s Day and spend time with people I love.

Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
