30 minute reading timer from Edgewater Bookstore

The World Can Change in 30 Minutes

I like reading in 30-minute increments for several reasons.

First, I get sore if I sit too long holding a book. Getting up and stretching after a 30-minute session makes it possible to keep reading. Otherwise, I end up thinking more about the pain in my neck than the story in my hands.

Second, I’m a busy guy. Lots to do! You know how it is. My calendar is filled with meetings, projects that need attention, blah, blah, blah. Just another desk jockey with a day job. But I do have a few 30-minute gaps in the madness. In those moments, I flip over my hourglass reading timer and enjoy a book until time’s up. Beautiful.

Finally, I like reading in 30-minute increments because it gives my brain enough time to dig in without burning out. While I love long reading sessions, these 30-minute bursts are like little bolts of lightning throughout the day, jolting my thinking. Again, beautiful.

Just a thought. Cherish those 30-minute gaps between the busy. They’re, well, beautiful.

Until tomorrow, read slowly – take notes – apply the ideas.
